Twestival Global 2010! 03/24/2010
#CoMO TwestivalHmmm.... What is a Twestival you ask? Let me bring you into the new world of SOCIAL MEDIA! A Twestival is like a festival, only for twitter. It is a global event that brings together hundreds of different people in hundreds of different cities around the world for a global cause! Although Twitter is a form of online social media, the Twestival will bring people together...in person! It's a great way to connect with people in your community and use social media in an awesome, innovative way! All of the planning for the local Twestivals is done by volunteers, and each city hosting events will pick a fundraiser that supports and area of education. Last year, on February 9th, the first Twestival Global was held in more than 200 international cities to support Charity Water, which helps provide access to clean drinking water. The result was more than 250 thousand dollars and that money allowed for 55 wells to be placed in underdeveloped countries. I know, I know... this sounds like a great way to make a global impact, but you can help right here in Columbia, Missouri. Columbia is one of the cities sponsored.. and here's what you need to know: The tickets are $5 for 1 ticket or $20 for 5. The Twestival will take place Thursday night March 25 from 6 to 9 pm. Buy tickets here. And the best part of the Twestival? It takes place at Shakespeare's Pizza downtown... a Columbia favorite! The funds raised at the CoMO Twestival will go to Concern Worldwide's Education Initiative, and help millions of children who aren't in school. The Twestival will be a great way to have a good time as well as learn about the Twitter World. Let the Tweeting being! Follow @twestival for more information! |
